HIV can be prevented through:

  • Using condoms (males or female condoms) consistently when having sex
  • Be faithful to one partner or limit number of partners
  • Do not share needles or syringes
  • HIV positive mothers can prevent the transmission of HIV to their infants by not breastfeeding
    Also taking treatments will help reduce transmission of virus to infants during pregnancy and delivery
  • Get tested and know your HIV status
