Interpretation and Translation Services Print
Interpretation services are provided to clients in African languages they are comfortable with by escorting them to other service agencies such as medical appointments, other ASOs, immigration, housing and any other organization they have to deal with their life. Interpretation services are offered in the following African languages: Amharic. Tigrinya, Aka, Arabic, English, French, Ga, Hausa, Lingala, Portuguese, Kirywanda, Somali, Swahili, Twi, Xhosa, Yoruba, Arabic, etc. APAA also assists organizations with the translation of mainstream HIV/AIDS related information, legal and medical documents, as well as educational materials.
Emergency financial assistance Print
This service is only available to people living with HIV/AIDS and provide them with a limited amount of financial assistance on an annual basis for medical emergencies.
Counseling service Print
APAA offers confidential counseling to men, women including youth living with or affected by HIV/AIDS on HIV/AIDS and related issues such as psycho-social, treatment, nutrition, positive living, Sexual and reproductive health, crisis counseling, couple counseling, discordant counseling  group counseling, pre-and post- HIV- test counseling  in culturally and linguistically appropriate ways. Some of the major African languages used include: Amharic, Arabic, Tigrinya, Swahili, French, Somalia, Jula and Dogon, Ga, Hausa, Lingala, Twi, Xhosa, Yoruba, kiruwanda, etc. For confidential phone counseling you can us at 416-924-5256 ext 303 or 304
Community kitchen Print
The community kitchen brings women together once a month to share food, chat, tell stories, and educate women on issues related to HIV/AIDS and women’s sexual and reproductive health. This is a partnership program offered jointly through APAA, ACT, Black CAP and Voices of Positive Women.
Karibu Africa Print
Formerly known as “Soup Kitchen” it was started in 1999 with the intention of bringing HIV positive African men, women and their families together once a month. Karibu Africa provides opportunity for HIV positive people of African origin to build network, socialize, share experience and have fun. This program has contributed profoundly in trust building among each other.
